Vertical Parenting is the Parenting Ministry of High Point Baptist Church in Larksville, Pa.

Our Mission Statement is to ignite a passion in parents to take the lead in the spiritual training of their children.

The long term vision of Vertical Parenting is to become a ministry that, by God's grace, transforms the hearts of multiple generations and influences the community for Christ.

So, why call this ministry Vertical Parenting? It is based on a few important principles. 

One important principle that we need to instill in our children as well as ourselves is that our sin is primarily vertical against a holy God. Yes, we may offend other people when we sin against them but when we are able to reach the heart of our children to a point that they have such a love for God that they are grieved by how their sin offends God we are then able to truly move from behavior modification to heart transformation. 

Perhaps the most important principle to Vertical Parenting is one word, GRACE. Our strength and ability to parent our children in a God honoring way comes from us relying upon the grace of God NOT our own flesh to complete this task. Galatians 3:3 says, "How foolish can you be? After starting your Christian lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?" (NLT). If we try to parent by our own strength and our own flesh we will fail every time. Philippians 4:13 says, "For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength." (NLT) God wants us to stop looking to our own strength and abilities and begin to look vertically, to Christ, for the strength and wisdom to be the parents that he has called us to be. We can then teach our children to do the same when they struggle.
 
It is our prayer that this ministry will be a place to find encouragement to trust the Lord in this important responsibility of raising the next generation.
